About me

Facilitator. Researcher. Educator.

Led by curiosity, I am deeply fascinated by sense-making, the interconnectedness in systems, and the entanglement of the people, processes and structures. I use narrative and complex facilitation methods to explore how people in healthcare (and beyond) make collective sense and work together.

I am passionate about helping teams to unlock the potential to do their best work.  Most of my experience lies in high stakes, high pressure, uncertain, decision-making environments such as emergency medical environments.

I serve as Director for the Collaborative for Emergency Care Africa an organisation that builds local and global partnerships to produce research, education, and development in the healthcare and educational sector. I am a Senior Lecturer in the Division Health Policy and Systems at the University of Cape Town and Associate Editor for the African Journal of Emergency Medicine a peer-reviewed journal aimed in particular at supporting emergency care across Africa.

I never say no to a good adventure and new paths to explore, and I’ve worked and studied across the industry boundaries. I use these insights to offer innovative perspectives.

The less serious stuff

I love being in nature, hiking, the outdoors. I take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean on most days and cannot imagine not being close to the ocean and mountains. I love red wine, peanut butter (but not together though) and good books!
