About me

I help people in healthcare organisations to make sense of complex situations in their contexts. I am passionate about helping teams to unlock the potential to do their best work. This includes – but is not limited to – implementing change, improvement, management, and leadership skills. Most of my experience lies in high stakes, high pressure, uncertain, decision-making environments such as emergency medical environments.

I am part of a group of strategists that provides operational, management and strategy consulting services. I serve as Director for a NPO that forms effective local and global partnerships that catalyse research, education, and development in the healthcare and educational sector.

Facilitation and teaching

I facilitate complex change and teach topics including leadership, management, improvement methodologies, operational management, and implementation. I speak internationally about these topics and access to acute care.

Research

I prefer applied research, focusing on topics like sensemaking, narrative (stories, storytelling), organizational change, how people work together and identity.

I have supervised a broad range of research students, some of whom have gone on to become successful scholars, whilst others have pursued their careers in the healthcare sector.

Core values

My three core values are curiosity, contribution, and courage. The thread through my core values is voice, owning my own voice, and courageously using my voice to contribute. I believe that one way in which I contribute is to enable other voices to be heard e.g. in the workplace through capturing stories and sharing the stories.
