Working at the intersection of complexity, facilitation and health systems

Led by curiosity, I am deeply fascinated by sense-making, the interconnectedness in systems, and the entanglement of the people, processes and structures.  I help healthcare organisations create conditions for change and learning.

I work with academic and industry partners to explore complex challenges using complexity-informed and participatory approaches. I am passionate about helping teams to unlock the potential to do their best work, navigating uncertainty and complexity in the years ahead. For my PhD I researched how teams develop teams develop the capacity for collective sense-making in high-uncertainty environments. 

My PhD research and subsequent work built on my diverse background across fast-paced, high-stress sectors—including emergency care, oil and gas, health and safety, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). I bring practical insight, leadership and research experience to my work.

I serve as Director for the Collaborative for Emergency Care Africa a non-profit organisation that builds local and global partnerships to facilitate innovative and collaborative trauma research in austere settings.

I am an Associate Editor for the African Journal of Emergency Medicine a peer-reviewed journal aimed in particular at supporting emergency care across Africa.

Academically, I hold bachelor degrees in business studies, social science, and nursing, with vocational training as paramedic. I have postgraduate qualifications in critical care nursing and educational technology. Followed by completed an MBA and a PhD.

I never say no to a good adventure and new paths to explore, and I’ve worked and studied across the industry boundaries. I use these insights to offer innovative perspectives.

The less serious stuff

I love being in nature, hiking, the outdoors. I take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean on most days and cannot imagine not being close to the ocean and mountains. I love red wine, peanut butter (but not together though) and good books!
